Bacon Rice Crispie Treats

Hi guys!

I don't often to recipes on here, but this one seems to have been a hit tonight and I got a few requests to put it up in a link-able format instead of tweets. So, here you are.

BACON RICE CRISPIES.

SPOILER: THIS IS NOT HEALTHY AT ALL.

This was something a friend of my husband's brought to a work party and he begged her to tell him how to make them. She gave the basics, and we've kind of made our own way from there. These directions will be slightly different from the ones I gave on Twitter because Brandon and I realized we did a few things out of order. Here you go!

You will need:

- a large pot
- a frying pan
- a cake pan or cookie sheet
- aluminum foil
- spatula
- something into which to drain the bacon grease. A foil-lined bowl works for us.

Ingredients:

- 1 stick of butter (used for various things)
- 1 lb of bacon
- 1/3 C brown sugar
- 8 C of rice cereal (rice crispies)
- 1 bag of mini-marshmallows (6 cups)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Line the cake pan/cookie sheet with aluminum foil and coat with butter. Also coat the pot with butter.

2. Chop the bacon and put it in the pan to begin cooking. Low-heat (like medium-low).

3. When the bacon is nearly done, toss the marshmallows into the big pot to begin melting on LOW.

4. Drain the bacon of *most* of its grease. Add 1/2 the stick of butter into the bacon and let it melt.

5. SPRINKLE (this is VERY important) the brown sugar in over the bacon and butter. Mix well, keeping the heat low, until the butter/sugar start to caramelize.

6. When you've got the bacon cooked how you want it, add it to the marshmallows (which should be nicely melted and gooey, not burning). Mix it up.

7. Add the rice crispies cereal, and MIX AGAIN.

8. Spread the gooey deliciousness into the cake pan/cookie sheet to cool, but make sure you taste some of it while it's still warm because MMMMMMM.

9. Eat it. If you want to roll it into balls, do that while it's still warm. If you want to cut it into squares, do that after it's cooled.

10. GOOD LUCK!
