Next Big Thing Blog Hop
Wednesday, December 26, 2012
Hellooooo lovely readers!
Woot! My friend Katie (http://kjhstories.blogspot.com/) has tagged me in this blog hop, and I'm really excited. I'll tell you why. It's because I've decided to be done with the book I've been stressing over for nearly two years, and move on. (Querying may or may not actually happen... we'll see.) So I really do have a new thing to talk about!
In a nutshell: I'll answer ten questions about my current Work-In-Progress (WIP) and below I will tag five other authors who get to post a week after me.
Fun, right? Right! Here we go!
What is the working title of your book?
About a year ago, I had the thought, "What if Robin Hood had been a girl?" and I couldn't sleep that night. I stayed up and wrote a 1200 word short story that has turned into the first chapter of this book.
What genre does your book fall under?
Fantasy, though I hesitate to call it "epic" because it has no magic.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Ummm... not sure. Robyn is thin, average height, short blond hair and blue eyes. Lex is tall and a little gangly, auburn hair, and green eyes, and Carina is short, curvy, with long brown hair... I can't really think of any actors who could pull them off... I'd have to search...
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
To take down a cunning lord who killed his parents, a prince teams up with an unlikely outlaw - and falls for her at the same time.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Dunno. It's not even written yet - HA!
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
See my last answer...
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Not sure... I know there are other stories about Robin Hood and such, but this is NOT a re-telling. It's inspired by those characters, but I haven't tried to weave in any specific events or anything.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
As I said above, it was just the question that popped into my mind. I honestly don't remember where it came from. Aside from that, my friend Marieke (twitter blog) has been bothering me for MONTHS to put down my old MS and write this one. She's pushing me, and I need that. (Thanks Marieke!)
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
A new land, new characters, secrets, lies, begging, pleading, love, lust, betrayal, fencing, archery, and a battle to make you shake in your boots.
I'd also like to add, on an author's note, that there are some pretty amazing characters in this story. I've been able to delve quite deep into their personalities and get close to a few of them. I've only written about 10k so far, so I'm still trying to get to know the characters and the story before really diving in. I'm very excited for this one.
Thanks again Katie for tagging me!
